The Kennedy Cougars will challenge the Antelope Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Antelope took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Kennedy, who comes in off a win.
Kennedy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Grant a 22-0 shutout last Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Pacers: they've now won nine in a row.
Alyssa Vallery and Kaylena Ogle made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Vallery tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ogle struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Vallery got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Ogle went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Ogle has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kennedy got a massive performance out of Kira Griffin, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most RBI Griffin has posted since back in April of 2024. Malaiyah Fujinaga?starks was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Antelope was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 10-0 to Pleasant Valley. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Titans were not able to get on the board.
Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Antelope, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kennedy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Antelope struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Kennedy beat Antelope 7-4 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
