The Richfield Spartans posted their closest victory yet this season on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-36 victory over Roosevelt. For Richfield, this counts as revenge for the 74-48 defeat Roosevelt walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Zarihana Rennie was the offensive standout of the game as she scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and four blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Aniiya Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Loss or not, Roosevelt got some senior leadership from Olivia Wren and Tamara Behl. Wren scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five assists, while Behl. scored 12 points. Wren is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.
Richfield's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Roosevelt, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richfield will stay at home for another game and welcome DeLaSalle at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Roosevelt won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Edison at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Edison comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last 16 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
