Avery BrAdy made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (three). She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, Janice Corona was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Five bases. while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.5 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Courtlyn Volz, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
Steele hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Antonian Prep got the win against Fredericksburg on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-4. The Apaches haven't had any issues with the Billies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ale Santoyo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabella Garza, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Silva, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Steele pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Antonian Prep, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Steele hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Antonian Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Steele might still be hurting after the 14-6 defeat they got from Antonian Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Steele avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
