The New Prairie Cougars won the last time they faced the Jimtown Jimmies, and things went their way on Thursday too. New Prairie took down Jimtown 57-38. Given New Prairie's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Jimtown is ranked 196th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Prairie had a senior duo take command as Jolie Johns scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals and Jayden Flagg scored 16 points along with six assists and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Flagg has scored at least 25% of New Prairie's points. Maci Ernsperger was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six steals.
Defeat or not, Jimtown got some senior leadership from Abbey Brown who scored ten points and Justyce Williams who scored 12 points. The game was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points.
New Prairie's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Jimtown, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
New Prairie will be home for the holidays to greet Argos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Argos focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday. As for Jimtown, they will head out on the road to face off against South Central at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
