Great West recap Sept. 26, 2012
Holcomb was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Goodland 28-0. The Longhorns came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.
Holcomb took down the Cowboys 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyler LaSalle threw for 162 yards and ran for 143 yards in the win.
Beau Brown was the most productive running back in Great West this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 179 yards as Colby bested Goodland. Zane Winger also contributed to the rushing game with 61 yards on the ground.
Tucker was the best wideout in the league this week as the Longhorns defeated Kent Teeter's team. Tucker racked up eight receptions for 82 yards. Jeremy Cox helped Holcomb's passing attack out by catching five balls for 64 yards.
Holcomb's LaSalle and Cox have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. LaSalle has thrown for 574 yards this season, while Cox, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 12 catches for 206 yards. The Cowboys' Dax Ruhs leads the league in rushing yards with 487.
A big matchup in Great West this week will be when the Eagles take on the Longhorns. Colby is currently in fifth, while Holcomb is in second.
Goodland made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,844 from 6,361. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 28-0 victory over the Cowboys last week.
