The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Nash Central with points to spare, taking the game 49-33. That result was just more of the same for these two, as SouthWest Edgecombe also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Leading SouthWest Edgecombe to victory were A'Chonacey (Chonie) Mabry and Mackenzie Moore. Mabry scored 14 points along with five steals, while Moore dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mabry is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kd Collins, who scored nine points along with three steals.
SouthWest Edgecombe is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Nash Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
SouthWest Edgecombe will head out on the road to take on Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nash Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Nash at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
