The West Iron County Wykons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 71-46 defeat to Escanaba might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Iron County in their matchups with Escanaba: they've now lost three in a row.
Leading Escanaba to victory were Grayson Lamarche and Keira Maki. Lamarche dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Maki scored 24 points along with seven assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maki has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Katey Lamb, who scored eight points along with five assists and two steals.
West Iron County's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Escanaba, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Iron County will take on Gwinn at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Gwinn has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Escanaba, they will be playing at home against Calumet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Calumet is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
