The Hylton Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Forest Park Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hylton barely beat Osbourn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 17-0 shutout on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.
Alanis Layne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hylton let Luana Plummer and Jayel Williams run wild. Plummer went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles, while Williams got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those three doubles gave Plummer a new career-high. Alexandra Newton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Hylton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Osbourn only posted an OBP of .348.
Meanwhile, Forest Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Panthers.
Forest Park pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hylton, their record is now 13-6.
Hylton came out on top in a nail-biter against Forest Park when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
