Akron is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Simla is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rams will welcome the Cubs at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Akron 3.5, Simla 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Akron is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on Otis with a sharp 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Tucker Stahn made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Kolten Randel and Caleb Poss did most of the damage at the plate: Randel went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Poss went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Randel is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Merek Charney, who earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Akron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Simla sidestepped Nucla for a 5-3 win.
Akron has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Simla, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
