Sophia Reyes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, River Valley let Morgan MacDonald and Tamarie Williams run wild. MacDonald went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Williams went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Williams has posted since back in May of 2024. Lovie Phan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
River Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, ALA - West Foothills came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Honey Badgers with a sharp 14-1 victory.
Savanna Urias made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Sammy Kirby was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Victoria Rauzan, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.
ALA - West Foothills' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for River Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-3-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. River Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like ALA - West Foothills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
River Valley suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to ALA - West Foothills in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can River Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
