Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Neah Bay Red Devils, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by the Mountain Lions 64-34 on Saturday. Neah Bay's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Neah Bay's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Adan Ellis, who picked up 43 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathias Greene, who threw for 131 yards and four touchdowns.
Liberty Bell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucien Paz, who threw for 374 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Paz is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last six games he's played. Remington Paz did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 207 receiving yards.
Neah Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Liberty Bell, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.
Neah Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Liberty Bell will face off against Wilbur-Creston-Keller at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wilbur-Creston-Keller's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
