You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Lake Norman Charter Knights's strategy against the East Rowan Mustangs on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lake Norman Charter blew East Rowan out of the water with a 81-44 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lake Norman Charter had established a 34 point advantage.
Jay Morgan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Owen Kuhn, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why East Rowan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jonathan Wembolua. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with eight rebounds.
Lake Norman Charter's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for East Rowan, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Norman Charter will take on Northwest Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Northwest Cabarrus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for East Rowan, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Carson at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Carson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully East Rowan likes a good challenge.
