Softball Game Preview: Tidehaven Tigers vs. Palacios Sharks

Tidehaven is 9-1 against Palacios since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. Tidehaven has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tidehaven is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Tuesday. They came up short against Industrial, falling 11-1. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Cobras since Tuesday.

Palacios let Edna stack six runs on them in the seventh inning on Thursday but luckily Palacios prevailed anyway. The Sharks walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Cowboys. The Sharks haven't had any issues with the Cowboys recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Breylyn Elizondo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Laila Richards was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Riley Critendon was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Tidehaven's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Palacios, their record is now 10-13.

Tidehaven suffered a grim 20-11 defeat to Palacios when the teams last played back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
