The Union Colony Prep Timberwolves pushed their score all the way to 67 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Lyons at home by a decisive 85-67 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union Colony Prep in their matchups with Lyons: they've now lost eight in a row.
Union Colony Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Sarchet, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sarchet has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Josiah Rodriguez, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Union Colony Prep were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Caleb Christiansen, who scored 30 points along with three steals for Lyons. Christiansen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Bolkovatz, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Union Colony Prep's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Lyons, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Colony Prep will take on Front Range Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Front Range Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Lyons, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. Clear Creek is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.5 points per game.
