The Crossroad Academy Scorpions will head out on the road to challenge the Madison County Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crossroad Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 303 points over their last five games.
Even though Gadsden County scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, Crossroad Academy still came out on top. Crossroad Academy walked away with a 65-55 win over Gadsden County. The win was just what Crossroad Academy needed coming off of a 81-56 defeat in their prior matchup.
Tyrek Jessie and Ja'Mari Favors were among the main playmakers for Crossroad Academy as the former scored 13 points along with four steals and the latter scored 16 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jessie has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Camari Hale, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Madison County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They breezed by Jefferson County on the road to the tune of 74-19. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Madison County has posted yet this season.
Madison County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kevin Gilley out in front who scored 23 points along with six steals. That's the first time this season that Gilley scored 15 or more points. Labron Lee was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Crossroad Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Madison County, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.
Crossroad Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Madison County in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 55-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crossroad Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
