Basketball Game Preview: Leggett Pirates vs. Spurger Pirates

Leggett hasn't had much luck against Spurger recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Leggett Pirates will host the Spurger Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Leggett will be strutting in after a victory while Spurger will be coming in after a defeat.

Leggett will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Hull-Daisetta, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Leggett walked away with a 62-50 win over Hull-Daisetta on Friday.

Leggett found their leader in sophomore Bianca Perkins, who went 12 for 28 on her way to 33 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perkins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Na'Ilah Jordan, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Spurger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Goodrich, falling 54-22.

Leggett has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Spurger, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Leggett came up short against Spurger when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 44-36. Can Leggett avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
