Basketball Recap: Carter Hewitt Key Part of a Team Effort in Crusaders Win

Calvary Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Cramerton Christian Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 65-52 victory over the Calvary Christian Cougar. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougar, too.

Cramerton Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Hewitt, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hewitt a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Brayden Johnson, who went 10 for 14 on his way to 22 points.

Cramerton Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Cramerton Christian Academy's record is now 9-12. As for Calvary Christian, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cramerton Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Woodland Baptist Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calvary Christian, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Oak Level Baptist Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
