Blue Ridge has gone 6-1 against Mountain View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Red Raiders will head out to face off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Blue Ridge will be strutting in after a victory while Mountain View will be coming in after a defeat.
Blue Ridge gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Forest City with a sharp 12-6 win.
Trista Laude spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Abby Piechocki was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hailey Champang, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Blue Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.
Hanover Area hit Mountain View with a eight-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Hawkeyes, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mountain View saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Kilmer, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Blue Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Blue Ridge suffered a grim 13-7 defeat to Mountain View in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Red Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
