Fairfield is 0-3 against the Eagles since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Fairfield Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Milford Eagles at 2:00 p.m. Fairfield is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Last Wednesday, Fairfield was the victim of a tough 56-32 loss at the hands of the Vikings. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fairfield in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost seven in a row.
Fairfield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Myka Richardson, who scored ten points along with three steals, and Kayla McCoy who scored eight points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Milford can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Anderson with a sharp 47-26 victory. Given Milford's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Raptors are ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Violet Shuluga continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Kelsey McKenney was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Milford, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Saturday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Fairfield have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Milford, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 rebounds per game. Given Fairfield's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fairfield and the Eagles were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but the Indians came up empty-handed after a 52-51 loss. Can Fairfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
