Eastern Greene entered their tilt with Monrovia on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 66-63 victory over the Monrovia Bulldogs. With that win, the Thunderbirds brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.

Eastern Greene's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyan Hudson led the charge by going 6 of 14 on his way to 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Coby Sykes, who went 10 of 17 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hayden Mccloud, who went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hudson McCloud, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and four steals.

The victory got Eastern Greene back to even at 4-4. As for Monrovia, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Greene will square off against Barr-Reeve at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Barr-Reeve is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season. As for Monrovia, they will challenge Mooresville at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th.
