Football Recap: Bellflower Skates Past La Mirada with Ease

Bellflower's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Gahr on Monday. The Buccaneers claimed a resounding 35-6 win over the La Mirada Matadores. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won eight contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Bellflower found their leader in freshman Kendyll Upshaw, who threw for 207 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 37 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jade Walker was Upshaw's top target, picking up 50 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 45 yards.

Bellflower didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Upshaw and Kayla Williams.

Bellflower is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.2 points on average over those games. As for La Mirada, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Bellflower wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 27-13 win against Dominguez on the 24th. As for La Mirada, they will head out on the road to face off against Norwalk on Monday.
