Newton County Academy extended the longest winning streak in MAIS A District 4 this week by beating Heidelberg Academy, 41-18. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Newton County Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on the Rebels. Zack Meeks ran for 225 yards in the win.
The Generals' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tanner Smith threw for 10 yards and Joseph Little had 10 yards receiving.
Newton County Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Generals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 541 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Little has 10 catches for 302 yards. Meeks leads the league in rushing with 488 yards.
A big matchup in MAIS A District 4 this week will be when Porter's Chapel Academy takes on Ben's Ford Christian. At the moment, the Eagles are in third, while the Eagles are in second.
Newton County Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,710 from 11,449. The improvement was the result of 41-18 victory over Heidelberg Academy last week.
