The Pirates lead the state with 2,539 total yards, an average of 507.8 per game, according to MaxPreps statistics. They have built that advantage with a No. 1 rushing total of 1,989 yards - 397.8 per game and an impressive 10.5 per carry.
Charlestown also leads the state with 27 rushing touchdowns. It has posted a 4-1 record, including a 92-6 rout of Clarksville. The Pirates' only loss was a wild 52-48 verdict against Brownstown Central (Brownstown).
Though averaging 53.6 points per game, the Pirates are tied for second with Pioneer (Royal Center) in state scoring with 268 points. Fountain Central (Veedersburg) paces the Hoosier state with 280 points, a 56.0 average, and 40 touchdowns.
An interesting footnote is that the city of Columbus has accounted for a whopping 449 points in five games. North is No. 9 with 227, just ahead of No. 10 East with 222.
The passing leader is Zionsville with 1,620 yards, an average of 324 per outing. Zionsville passes also have been intercepted 11 times.
