Chapin is on a three-game streak of home losses, River Bluff a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Chapin Eagles will take on the River Bluff Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Thursday, Chapin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 20-14 to White Knoll. While losing is never fun, Chapin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while White Knoll is ranked sixth).
Despite the defeat, Chapin had strong showings from Cole Martin, who picked up 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Brady Albro, who threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Chapin's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. White Knoll's QB won't forget Tanner Short anytime soon given Short sacked him five times.
Meanwhile, River Bluff was beaten by Dutch Fork 56-3 on Friday. River Bluff was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-3.
Chapin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for River Bluff, their defeat also dropped their record down to an identical 5-4.
Chapin took a serious blow against River Bluff when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 70-21. Thankfully for Chapin, Cooper Johns (who rushed for 227 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
