Indio has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Banning Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Indio has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 541 points over their last six games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Indio gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Desert Mirage 101-23 at home. Given Indio's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Desert Mirage is ranked 1449th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Indio can attribute much of their success to Jeremy Corona-Rodriguez, who scored 29 points. That's the first time this season that Corona-Rodriguez scored 15 or more points. Jayden Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Meanwhile, Banning's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 85-49 loss at the hands of Indio. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Banning in their matchups with Indio: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Junior Dunahoo, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Moua, who scored nine points.
Indio has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Banning, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-16.
Everything came up roses for Indio against Banning in their previous matchup on Monday as the squad secured a 85-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Indio since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
