Discovery has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Sebring Blue Streaks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Discovery knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Sebring likes a good challenge.
Even though Discovery has not done well against Lakeland Christian recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Discovery took down Lakeland Christian 71-54. Given Discovery's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Lakeland Christian is ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Discovery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darius Livingston led the charge by scoring 18 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds. The matchup was Livingston's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lucson Jean, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Sebring came up short against Gainesville last Saturday and fell 58-50.
The losing side was boosted by David Allen, who scored 22 points along with 3 steals. KJ Turner was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Discovery pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sebring, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Discovery have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 40 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sebring struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Discovery couldn't quite finish off Sebring in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 and fell 89-86. Will Discovery have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
