Tri-Valley is a perfect 10-0 against John Glenn since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Scotties will head out on the road to face off against the Muskies at 5:00 p.m. Tri-Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Tri-Valley proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Utica 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Scotties have posted since May 16, 2025.
Oliver Lanning looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Parker Shaffer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Blayne Riley, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Tri-Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for John Glenn, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against New Lexington on Thursday as they made off with an 11-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Muskies have posted against the Panthers since April 16, 2019.
Rocco Sabino made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Sabino was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. John Glenn is undefeated when Sabino posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Owen Edwards and Carter Merry did most of the damage at the plate: Edwards went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Merry went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Edwards a new career-high. Jensen Parry was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Tri-Valley's record now sits at 10-7. As for John Glenn, their record is now 7-11.
John Glenn's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Tri-Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for John Glenn, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Tri-Valley keep running through batters, or will the Muskies buck the trend?
Everything went Tri-Valley's way against John Glenn in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Tri-Valley made off with a 14-3 victory. Do the Scotties have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Muskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
