Immaculate has gone 9-1 against Bunnell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mustangs will face off against the Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Immaculate put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They put the hurt on Joel Barlow with a sharp 19-7 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Mustangs with their most commanding win of the season.
Maddie Costa spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Norah Whitmore was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. Those doubles were her first of the season. Cami O'Rourke was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Immaculate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bunnell came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Cougars.
Shea Toth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Caramanica, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kira Bryant, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Immaculate now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bunnell, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Immaculate hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bunnell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Immaculate was able to grind out a solid victory over Bunnell in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
