Given Carlsbad's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Mission Vista is ranked 355th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Carlsbad to victory were Jake Hall and Jael Martin. Hall scored 18 points, while Martin dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Hall's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Deuce Sims was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Carlsbad's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Mission Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlsbad is on the road again on Friday and play against St. Augustine at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. One thing working in St. Augustine's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Mission Vista, they will head out on the road to face off against Fallbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fallbrook is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
