Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask First Baptist). They walked away with a 94-84 victory over the Ovilla Christian Eagles on Friday. For the Saints, this counts as revenge for the 67-36 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2022.

First Baptist was led to victory by Jett Stamps and Dylan Jones. Stamps went 12 of 30 on his way to 33 points and five rebounds, while Jones went 7 for 13 en route to 23 points. Stamps is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Camp Pugh, who posted eight points and nine boards.

First Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Ovilla Christian lost, don't look at Lyric White. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 46 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 54.8% of Ovilla Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Cooper Rogers was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

First Baptist's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points per game. As for Ovilla Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.

First Baptist didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-67 win against Prestonwood Christian North on the 21st. Ovilla Christian has also already played their next game, a 68-50 victory against Cambridge on the 21st.
