The Nelson Island Islanders were the 45-42 winner over the Dillingham Wolverines when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Nelson Island fell 38-26 to the Wolverines on Friday. Nelson Island has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Nelson Island lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rebecca Tulik. Despite the final result, she scored six points. Another player making a difference was Benita Charlie, who scored seven points.
Nelson Island has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Dillingham, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.
Nelson Island won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Huskies at 9:00 a.m. on February 3rd. Emmonak comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Dillingham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
