The Tri-Valley Vikings will head out to take on the Westville Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Tri-Valley sitting on three straight wins and Westville on four.
Last Monday, Tri-Valley earned a 9-5 victory over Delavan.
The team relied heavily on Elle Fesler, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Maren Milton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westville). They put the hurt on Urbana with a sharp 20-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Westville, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lilly Kiesel made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Laney Cook and Daylin Zaayer did most of the damage at the plate: Cook went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Zaayer went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Zaayer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dannika Hamer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double.
Westville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .704. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Tri-Valley's record is now 3-0-1. As for Westville, their record now sits at 8-1.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tri-Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Westville struggles in that department as they've averaged .535. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
