Phelps had won six straight games and Caleigh McCoy did her part to make it seven on Monday. The Phelps Hornets breezed by the Hurley Rebels to the tune of 65-31 thanks in part to McCoy, who went 11 of 16 on her way to 24 points and six rebounds. Her evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.
The team also got some help courtesy of Kylea Weddington, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last four times she's played.
Phelps' win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Hurley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Phelps will be taking part in a tournament against Cherokee at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Phelps' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Hurley, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th.
