The St. Philip Catholic Central Fighting Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 70-58 victory over Mendon. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryder Gorham, who scored 17 points. The matchup was Gorham's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Quincy Blair, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
St. Philip Catholic Central's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Mendon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
St. Philip Catholic Central will finish 2023 at home by hosting Union City at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union City is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Mendon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Constantine at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st.
