It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Brunswick ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers with a 72-68 victory. The win was just business as usual for the Pirates, who after eight games remain undefeated this season.

Brunswick's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Heze Kent led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Kent's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasir Poole, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

McIntosh County Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Neo West, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists. West has been hot, having posted eight or more assists the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig Battle, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 20 points.

Brunswick pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for McIntosh County Academy, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick and Effingham County will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brunswick has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. McIntosh County Academy will take on Emanuel County Institute in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McIntosh County Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.7 points per game this season.
