The Beachside Barracudas had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 59-52 win over Tocoi Creek. That's another feather in the cap for Beachside, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Beachside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madilyn (Madi) Ray, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 blocks. Ray is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Walker, who scored 8 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Tocoi Creek had strong showings from Audrey Beyer, who scored 20 points, and Gabi Iturralde, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds. Beyer scored a full 38.5% of Tocoi Creek's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Beachside pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Tocoi Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Beachside will head out on the road to face off against Providence School at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence School is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Tocoi Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Joseph Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
