The Parkview Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Battle Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Parkview posted their biggest victory yet this season last Tuesday. They blew past Lebanon 59-39. Given Parkview's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Lebanon is ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Battle stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Fort Zumwalt South as Battle made off with a 70-45 victory.
Battle's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tate McCubbin, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Brandon Rooks was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Parkview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Battle, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home.
Parkview came up short against Battle in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 64-52. Can Parkview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
