The Catholic Central Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Monroe Central Seminoles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Catholic Central earned a 55-48 victory over East Liverpool.
Catholic Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Maragos, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Mary Rohde was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though River scored an imposing 62 points on Monday, Monroe Central still came out on top. Monroe Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-62 win over River. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Monroe Central has posted yet this season.
Catholic Central pushed their record up to 9-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Monroe Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Catholic Central took a serious blow against Monroe Central when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 61-29. Can Catholic Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
