The Burleson Elks were the 22-20 winner over the Seguin Cougars when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Burleson fell just short of Seguin by a score of 29-27. While losing is never fun, Burleson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while Seguin is ranked 200th).
Burleson's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caden Ward, who rushed for 30 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 94 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Nathan Jackson, who rushed for 145 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Burleson and nudges their season record down to 2-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.5 points per game. As for Seguin, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-4.
Burleson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Seguin also has no future games currently scheduled.
