The Jeffersonville Red Devils are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Silver Creek Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jeffersonville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.5 points per game this season.
Jeffersonville saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Noblesville. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Millers are ranked fifth).
Despite the loss, Jeffersonville got top-tier performance from P.J. Douglas, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrence Nord, who posted ten points.
Meanwhile, Silver Creek put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Jennings County to the tune of 85-46. That 39 point margin sets a new team best for the Dragons this season.
Jeffersonville better keep an eye on Kasen Daeger. He was instrumental in Silver Creek's win, going 12 of 15 on his way to 31 points. The game was Daeger's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Sprigler, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points and three steals.
Silver Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2023.
Silver Creek's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Jeffersonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Jeffersonville has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44.3% of their three-pointers per game. However, it's not like Silver Creek struggles in that department as they've made 42.2% of their three-pointers this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Jeffersonville against Silver Creek when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 75-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jeffersonville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
