The Fullerton Indians will face off against the Pacifica Mariners at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fullerton 2.2, Pacifica 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Fullerton gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Los Altos. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Malaya Majam-Finch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayley Brock, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Naia Su'e, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Pacifica unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Cypress by a score of 4-2.
Ellena Ediss was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Pacifica saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micheala Meza, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Pacifica's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-5. As for Fullerton, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Pacifica's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Fullerton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pacifica, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Fullerton keep running through batters, or will the Mariners buck the trend?
