The Geneva Eagles will face off against the Berkshire Badgers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Geneva is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Geneva was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lakeside on Thursday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 12-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Morgan Hunt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alyvia DeGroodt was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gianna Markijohn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Geneva kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Berkshire came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 4-0 shutout. Four seems to be a good number for the Badgers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
The result came thanks to Moira Wonders's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Berkshire secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Delaney Gumm, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Elaine Higgs was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
The victory got Geneva back to even at 5-5. As for Berkshire, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Geneva has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Berkshire struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Geneva's way against Berkshire in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Geneva made off with a 13-3 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Badgers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
