The Emery Spartans lost against the South Summit Wildcats back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Emery took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Summit. Emery has not had much luck with South Summit recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Emery's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zack Tuttle, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Justice, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Summit to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Woolstenhulme, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Woolstenhulme has scored at least 25% of South Summit's points. Another player making a difference was Cam Harris, who scored 11 points.
Emery's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for South Summit, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Emery will head out on the road to face off against Panguitch at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 65.7 so far this season, Panguitch's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Emery better be ready for a challenge. As for South Summit, they will be playing at home against Carbon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Carbon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Wednesday.
