LEANDER, Texas - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Leander (Texas) held on for a 20-10 victory over
Vista Ridge (Cedar Park, Texas) on Saturday. The difference for the Lions was
Dylan Bauer ran for a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a field goal, the Rangers went into halftime with a 10-0 lead. The Lions took the lead for good with a Bauer touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, Leander still trailed by 3 points going into the fourth quarter. But 13 points in the fourth helped LHS pull out the victory.
The loss snapped Vista Ridge's 6-game winning streak.
Caleb Woodward stood out for the Lions in the win. The senior ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 14 touchdowns on the season.
VR's lone touchdown came on a run in the second quarter.
Leander had given up an average of 6.7 points prior to the contest.
The defeat comes as a step back for Vista Ridge, which notched a 24-17 victory over Dripping Springs in its previous outing. With the win LHS extended its winning streak to three games.
Leander (7-1) goes up against Dripping Springs in a 4A Region IV District 25 game matchup next week, while Vista Ridge (6-1) locks horns with Marble Falls also in a 4A Region IV District 25 game.
