Zola Stephens tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Kingsley Williams was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Cassidy Kutch also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Seton Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Toutle Lake only posted an OBP of .238.
Union hit Camas with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Papermakers fell 6-3 to the Titans. The contest marked the Papermakers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Jayda Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Hayden Wiest was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalli True, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Seton Catholic's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Camas, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Camas' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Seton Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Camas, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Seton Catholic keep running through batters, or will the Papermakers buck the trend?
