Baseball Recap: Coleman Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Coleman waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Bangs Dragons 8-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-1 last Tuesday.

Hunter Edington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, Kyle Bowers and Easton Meador did most of the damage at the plate: Bowers scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Meador scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Bowers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braylon Stewart, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Coleman's record now sits at 13-7. As for Bangs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Coleman is set to square off against their familiar foe Winters at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bangs will challenge rival De Leon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Bangs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
