Basketball Recap: Zion Ibekwe's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bigtyme Prep Academy over Xavier Educational Academy

If BigTyme Prep Academy was riding high fresh off their 70-48 takedown of Varsity Opponent on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The BigTyme Prep Academy Bears came up short against Xavier Educational Academy on Friday, falling 74-54. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Xavier Educational Academy are ranked 12th).

BigTyme Prep Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zion Ibekwe, who posted 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Ibekwe's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Isaiah Stewart was another key player, putting up 15 points.

BigTyme Prep Academy's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-10. As for Xavier Educational Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. BigTyme Prep Academy will venture away from home to challenge Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Xavier Educational Academy, they will head out to take on St. John's at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
