Given Mooresville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Mt. Vernon is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mooresville was led to victory by Emma Mcginley and Rachel Harshman. Mcginley scored 11 points along with five rebounds, while Harshman dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Sydney Hardy was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five steals.
Mooresville is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Mooresville will be playing in front of their home fans against Plainfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will head out on the road to challenge Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenfield-Central and Mt. Vernon are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
