Basketball Recap: Josiah Thompson Key Part of a Team Effort in Jaguars Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Forestview challenged North Gaston on Monday. The Forestview Jaguars managed a 65-59 win over the North Gaston Wildcats. This was payback for the Jaguars, who suffered a 76-65 loss the last time these two teams met.

Forestview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josiah Thompson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. That's the most rebounds Thompson has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Quinton Rybczyk, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals.

Forestview was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Gaston only racked up six assists.

North Gaston lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Markell Carothers, who went 9 for 18 on his way to 22 points and five boards. Jalen Howard was another key player, going 8 of 12 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds.

Forestview's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-7. As for North Gaston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Forestview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 85-56 defeat against Ashbrook on the 14th. As for North Gaston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 102-74 loss against Kings Mountain on the 14th.
