Surprise Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Butte Valley Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Surprise Valley will be strutting in after a win while Butte Valley will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, Surprise Valley earned a 43-33 win over Big Valley. The victory was just what Surprise Valley needed coming off of a 55-34 loss in their prior game.
Casey Grove was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Surprise Valley's points. Andrew Eichstadt was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Butte Valley suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 last Wednesday. They were dealt a 68-34 loss at the hands of Hayfork.
Surprise Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Butte Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.
Surprise Valley came up short against Butte Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 50-46. Can Surprise Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
